Fraser River Sturgeon Fishing Report - October 11, 2024

October is shaping up exactly as expected—phenomenal. The recent bump in rain has brought a surge of new salmon into the Fraser River, and the sturgeon are taking full advantage.

Watch out for the sharp scutes on the juvenile sturgeon!

October Outlook

While sturgeon are bottom feeders, they’re still opportunistic. When the right bait is presented, they won’t hesitate. Some bites this past week happened within seconds of the bait hitting the bottom. With so many sturgeon feeding, there's a competitive rush for the easy prey below, making for some outstanding, non-stop action.

From what we've seen so far, the outlook for the rest of October is highly promising. If this continues, we're expecting the sturgeon fishing to remain productive well into November.
